Lyla, is a scientist with an unsure career future, her boyfriend, an aspiring actor named Nico convinces Lyla to join him on a reality tv show similar to Love Island in hopes it will bring him exposure and launch his career. A storm hits the island leaving the couples stranded with limited food and resources. One by one, people begin to die.
Lyla soon finds herself making friends, fighting for survival, and attempting to keep the peace. Relationships become strained between all the couples, alliances are made, and fights begin to break out.
I listened to the audiobook version, and for me, it was a mixed bag when it comes to narration. While Imogen Church excels in voicing the female characters, and bringing them to life I can't say the same for the male characters. The voice acting for the men was less authentic and at times distracting. I probably would have enjoyed reading a physical copy more, but Ware is fantastic at weaving suspense, and tension, and I always enjoy her novels.
Rating: ★★★★
